According to Gestalt psychology, our minds can fill in the blanks. Now combine that with the neurological functions of our brain as we perceive and interpret the world. Our eyes allow light patterns to enter our brains, which interpret those patterns two ways, one fast and immediate, so that we can keep up with the moving world, and one slow and deliberate, so that we can see all the richness of color and form.

Appropriated: Apples by Paul Cézanne, painted across the years of 1878 and 1879, a slow process.
